Adding what3words to Cadcorp SIS Desktop

SIS Desktop search options support what3words, so users can search a what3words address or click on the map to learn the what3words address for that location.

1. In SIS Desktop, you can enable what3words searching by first including it in the Ribbon.json file (C:\Program Files\Cadcorp SIS Desktop 9.1\Options\Desktop) by adding “what3words”: true parameter within a text editor.

2. Open SIS Desktop and start typing in the Search field to see the included list;

3. Click Configure to enter the API key, and all searches will now include results from what3words;

4. Search: Type the full what3words address, such as filled.count.soap, select from the dropdown confirmation, and the map zooms to the 3m square;

5. Click-to-identify: View ▸ Status Bar ▸ what3words to see live what3words cursor tracking.

Advanced Analyst Tools & Bulk Operations

1. Bulk geocode: Use the Geocode Process Operation on a table with a w3w column to create a layer of points created by geocoding the w3w addresses;

2. View geometry: Use Add Overlay → View Geometry and select any table containing what3words addresses. This allows users to take, for example, a spreadsheet or database table containing what3words addresses and display the locations in SIS Desktop as a map overlay. Make sure you select what3words as the BLOB configuration format.

Adding what3words to Cadcorp SIS WebMap

what3words can be integrated with Cadcorp SIS WebMap and accessed via a button on the map’s interface. The user can either click on the map to return the what3words address for that location, or input three words to zoom to the location. When the user types in the first two words and any letter from the third, they’re offered suggestions for the final word.

Send the API key to sales@cadcorp.com. Your Cadcorp account manager will then contact you to send you terms of use and to arrange for the resource to be added.

1. In SIS WebMap Manager, select the what3words configuration section and add an API key. Then, restart SIS WebMap;
2. In SIS WebMap, clicking on the map returns the what3words address for that location. The address can be copied as text;

3. Typing in the what3words address zooms to the location and places a pin on the map.
