Migrating from V1 to V2 of the what3words ArcGIS Locator
Version 1 of our Locator will be sunset on 31st May 2021 and will no longer function within the ArcGIS platform after that date.
The what3words ArcGIS Locator V1 consists of all services available at arcgis.what3words.com/w3w/rest/services/
V2 of our ArcGIS Locator includes what3words AutoSuggest ensuring accurate 3 word address collection. AutoSuggest suggestions appear in ArcGIS Onlin, ArcGIS Pro and Survey123 or can be obtained via the ArcGIS REST API or ArcGIS JavaScript API.
New Locator credentials
The URL, username and password required for V2 of our Locator are different. You will need to use the following when adding the Locator:
URL: The English Locator URL is https://arcgis.what3words.com/v2/arcgis/rest/services/what3words_EN_English/GeocodeServer. A full list of URLs for all what3words languages can be found here.
Username: [Your email address]
Password: [Your what3words API Key found in your account here]
Add the new Locator
The process by which V2 of our Locator is added to the ArcGIS platform is the same as for V1.
Unfortunately, in some products (such as ArcGIS Online) it is not possible to edit the URL and log on details of an existing Locator instance in your Content. You will therefore need to create a new what3words Locator instance as you did when adding V1.
